Biography

Sulkhan Metreveli writes his dissertation at the Institute of Mass Communication and Media Research of University of Zurich. He holds the licentiatus philosophiae equal to Master of Arts degree of the same University where he studied mass communication (media economics), international and constitutional law, international relations and literature. Before attending University of Zurich, in 2001, he has obtained the bachelors degree of Ivane Javakhishvili State University of Tbilisi, faculty of Journalism. He has graduated with honours. At the moment, he is actively involved in University politics participating in the management as the elected member of Mensa Commission of the University of Zurich. Furthermore, he is a member of Euroscience.

He is the research assistant at KOF – Swiss Economic Institute of ETH Zurich. At the same, he is the active journalist publishing regular political columns and essays in various Georgian, English and German  newspapers and magazines. International politics and literature belong to his main journalistic interest.

Sulkhan Metreveli, furthermore, is the founder and managing director of Teimuraz Metreveli Foundation, an organization which came to life after the sudden dead of his father, renowned Georgian journalist and editor in chief of various quality Georgian newspapers such as “Dilis Gazeti” and “Akhali Epoqa.” The aim of the foundation is promotion of free speech in Georgia and elsewhere in the world throughout various activities.

He is married to Ani Margvelashvili.

To his special interests belong study of martial arts such as boxing, fencing and Ju Jitsu.
